Dry Needling Therapy for pain relief

What is dry needling?

It is a treatment performed by skilled, trained health practitioners certified to practice this type of therapy. A thin monofilament needle penetrates the skin and muscle. Dry needles are aimed at trigger points which are hyperirritable spots of skeletal muscle.

How does it work?

The needle causes a small focal lesion which triggers satellite cell migration to repair or replace damaged microfibres.

How long does it take to work?

In many cases, improved mobility is immediate and decreased pain can be felt within 24 hours! How good is that! Typically, it may take a few treatments, 4-5, for long-lasting effectiveness.

Does it hurt?

Temporary pain can occur if you tend to have a low tolerance to pain; however, the treatment is considered comfortable. Most patients do not find it painful at all.

How much does it cost?

Your initial appointment will involve a complete assessment to determine what we are treating, so your first appointment will cost more.

Your Podiatrist or Physiotherapist will also need to run through some other diagnostic tests and go over our treatment goals with you.

Initial appointments range between $95 – $120, depending on what treatments are carried out.

Follow-up appointments are usually between $65 – $80.

NOTE: the effectiveness of the treatment depends significantly on the therapist’s skill to accurately palpate myofascial trigger points as well as kinaesthetic awareness of anatomical structures.

Do not settle for anything less than the best!
